300 words narrative and Storyboard

There is a young boy who lives in the city. His name is Green. A lot of buildings are around him. He is reading a book. The book is telling a story. Once upon a time there was a nice forest. His grand-grand –grandfather was sitting under a tree and also reading a book. The book is called ‘building your own house’. Meanwhile, a little minibus stopped in front of this man. A people with a yellow hat and holding an axe came out from the minibus. These two men had a short chart and the yellow hat man started trying to cut the tree down. When the tree was cut down, he used the tree to build a house. Green’s GGGfather was very happy to live in it and the house had a very nice view to the forest. His neighbours was very interested in his new house and wanted to have a same one. Few months later, the new houses turn up more and more, but the trees disappeared faster and faster. One day, when Green’s GGGfather opened the window again, the forest became a huge piece of stumps. He could only see those buildings. Those buildings are sitting on where the trees were.

Than the scene changes to now and those building finally became like what we see today at the beginning.

I am thinking to use the natural power to destroy all the buildings and restore the forest and let people have the feeling of contrast.

I decide to show the trees in 3D format and the houses in 2D. So I can create the feeling of solid things becoming flat. The tree is alive but the house is dead. The idea of origami will be used in this video and the forest could be the real footage.

TRANSFORMABLE, FOLDING SPACE

For this task I am going to keep looking for the way of defining efficiency. Urbanisation is like a high speed running gear which will never stop. The power and strength it brings had never happened in the past. People start getting used to it and desire more. When building has been built, the original natural environment was lost. The urbanisation brings the speed and power of modernisation but also breaks the ecological balance. In this video, I may be showing the present and the past as a comparison to create the contrast between solid building and natural tree. In one sense, building is made of timber and using the land which tree should be growing on. It is a way of aggressing. As a result, the trees and houses might be represented by different element, such as paper.

Task 5 - 150 Words Story

Architecture is like all of other technology, it is evolving every day. The dream of flying is almost turned up in every kid’s brain. People respect birds because they can fly in the sky without restriction. Consequently, art craft has been designed and the engine is improved over time. As we know, flying is the most efficient way from one point to another point. Have you ever imagined a house can fly? When I was young, the worst thing for me was moving from one place to the other. Furniture had to be moved out of the house and got on to the truck than they had to be got off the truck again and moved to the new apartment. If there is a house can fly when you want to change place to live, lots of matter can be ignored. Imaging one day you open your door and all the neighbors’ houses are flying up. The music video can make the dream come true.

100 Words Interpretation from “Hypertextural Picturesque” and “Systemic Delay”

Hypertextual Picturesque stands for the term of architectural environment. In other words, it is the landscape of buildings. However, this landscape does not contain street, trees or flowers. As in the picturesque, the form of expression is becoming less important than the detail. The digital landscape is like a journey, ‘new game on old ground,’ describing a 2d architectural visual.

As technology develops, people sometimes lose the traditional beauty of composition. Computer can bring efficiency but also error. Overly relying on system may lead to the end of human-created concept. The natural materiality is what the technological production is leak of.

Task 2

150 words

Machine played an irreplaceable role around the industrial revolution period. The article, The Machine in Architecture Thinking points out that the process of machine blending into architectural design. Conflicts always take place when a new sense of understanding comes to change tradition. As we known, mechanisation brought efficiency but also broke the traditional definition of beauty. It leads the changes of proportion and geometry of building form. “None of the optimally efficient products could have been designed without analytical intellectual tools, without the rigor of the modus geometricus.” Then the unfamiliar character of machine makes sense. Consequently, “the building became a means of achieving no longer purity and harmony, but optimal efficiency.” That was the main reason that the conflict occurred. The word, ‘nature’ repeatedly turns up in the article. Machine certainly creates the artificial trace to the building environment so that the ‘nature’ breaks. However, the way of putting machines into environment without destroying the original feature would be the most important thing that needs to be considered.
